Cardiac Risk Assessment

We offer specialized blood tests broken into four categories—lipids, inflammation, metabolics, genetics—that help you better understand your heart disease or risk of disease. With the detailed data overview of your cardiovascular status, our doctors can choose the best medication and/or natural treatment options. With these diagnostic insights, your provider can create a targeted therapy and lifestyle plan that will best help you achieve your heart health goals.

Laboratory Diagnostics

Natural Medicine of Stillwater uses a number of specialty cardiovascular laboratories to assess your cardiovascular risk. This testing is much more detailed than the typical fasting lipid test run by most general practitioners at managed care clinics.

A comprehensive cardiovascular assessment requires 4 parts:

  1. Direct lipid measurements (not indirect measurements often run through managed care)

  2. Inflammation

  3. Metabolics

  4. Genetics

Within these testing categories are a  number of unique assessments that allows for more personalized and less invasive treatments including:

  • HDL Map

  • Cholesterol balance

  •  Prediabetes assessment

  • Statin induced myopathy genotyping

  • Fatty acid balance

  • cTnI (cardiac troponin I): released when your heart muscle is being stressed

  • Homocysteine and MTHFR genotyping: markers of the methylation cycle that may indicate issues with vitamin B12 or folate

Best Treatments

We try using the least invasive, most natural treatments possible for any given situation. We are very effective at providing alternatives to statin therapy.

Through our testing we can identify the most efficient natural treatments to control lipid levels and reduce overall cardiac risks. Testing can indicate if you are a poor candidate for statin therapy and indicate many more possible interventions to reduce your cardiac risks.
