Dr. Bush has had a career “behind the scenes” in the alternative medical industry. “I have seen a lot of the good, bad and ugly in both the natural supplement and diagnostic laboratory industries. It is these experiences that causes me to take a hyper-critical approach to our clinic offerings. Let’s just say that I do not believe in every industry piece of marketing or company sponsored education. I continue to evolve my clinical approach and find new tools to help people in need.”

Trained and registered as a Naturopathic Doctor in Minnesota, Dr. Bush takes an integrative medical approach incorporating conventional and alternative laboratory testing and treatments. “It is my goal to look for the root causes and support the whole-person. I see diagnostics and treatments as tools, and all tools should be considered when deciding what is best for a patient."

Our naturopathic doctors have decades of experience with patients in a clinical setting as well as experience within natural supplement and commercial-research laboratory settings. Experience gained “behind the scenes” provides us with a unique perspective resulting in extra cautiousness with industry fads and a more critical approach to both conventional and alternative medicines and diagnostics.

WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE?

Integrative medicine employs an evidence-based, holistic approach designed to treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. It incorporates conventional or traditional medicine with complementary approaches but believes in starting with as natural an approach as possible to encourage the body's innate healing abilities. Often use to prevent or manage chronic disease, treatments are personalized for each individual's needs.

Additionally, integrative doctors view their patients as equal partners in the healing process. Therefore, integrative practitioners educate their patients about their conditions, the treatment plans, and why these treatments are recommended for them. Natural medicine of Stillwater doctor consults are often longer that those in traditional setting to allow us to get to know your specific health needs and educate you, so that you can be an active participant in your health journey.

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

Functional medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. It recognizes that symptoms or a diagnoses may be the result of many contributing factors. For example, fatigue could be from low thyroid, adrenal, and vitamin D levels. Functional medicine acknowledges that each body system is impacted by the others and really works to identify the root cause of your health concerns through science and fact-based approaches.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTEGRATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

Functional and integrative medicine are two rapidly growing types of medicine. They address your mental, physical, and emotional needs.
While integrative medicine strives to treat an individual as a whole and apply various forms of therapy to enhance wellness, functional medicine concentrates on developing personalized treatments tailored to treat and cure underlying causes of the disease. Both of these approaches may be new ideas to conventionally trained practitioners, but these are core beliefs to classically trained alternative doctors such as naturopaths.
